Week 5 Facebook Post Reach, Post Engagement, and Insights

Faceboook Post Reach, Post Engagement and Insights

REACH

Reach is the number of people who have seen your post. Reach tracks the number of views on a post. There are two main ways your posts achieve their reach: organic and paid. Paid is when you pay for ads. After some research I learned that organic reach is the number of people who see your post without putting any money into it. Your organic reach starts with those who follow your page and grows depending on the engagement you get from your followers. When you like or comment on a public post, your Facebook friends see this. Your friends can then choose to engage with the same content. This is organic reach. The more engaging your content, the more people Facebook will put it to.

ENGAGEMENT

Facebook engagement calculates the number of times people clicked to read or view your post, liked, commented, and shared. So, basically any interaction on a post. An easy way to tell whether a post is successful is to take note of the engagement to reach ratio. A good engagement will be at least 1% that of the reach. I discovered that this ratio is considered to be successful on Facebook.

INSIGHTS

Facebook has a feature called insights. It tracks user interaction and can give you “insight” into understanding your page performance. It can help you determine the best time of day to post and what type of content is most popular. You can track the number of likes, friends and reach from the insights dashboard, which can be found by clicking on the gear wheel of your facebooks fan page.

Sometimes I get overwhelmed by all that Facebook offers and insecure that I’m not doing enough, but I am reminded that social media is about being social. If I’m not enjoying myself, it’s not worth it.
